Marathon Update

So I decided on Friday that I would still run the marathon and I was really excited and feeling extra motivated and then what happens on Saturday?? I HURT MYSELF!! :( When we were out and about on Saturday, I stepped off the sidewalk funny and hurt my ankle. It didn't hurt that much at first but then as we were walking it started to hurt more and more and the pain started creeping up my leg. By the end of the night, Victor had to help me hobble home. Anyway, when we got home my leg was swollen and Victor determined it to be a high-ankle sprain. Who knows what that is, but he said that it is the worst type of sprain you can have because it takes a long time to heal. NOOO!! Just when I was getting excited about running the marathon again.
Anyway, we elevated my foot and put ice on it to ease the swelling and by the next day the swelling had gone down but my leg was still hurting. Victor said that I should probably take a break from running for a week and then go from there. Well, I went running TODAY (silly me) because I felt like my ankle would be okay but I was WRONG. Shortly after the start of my run my ankle and leg started to tighten up and I ended up having to stop. I really should not have been out running at all because I was probably just making things worse, but I am so stubborn sometimes. I am slowly coming grips to the fact that I may not be able to run the marathon. :( I felt like a failure at first, but thanks to Debbie I don't feel so much like a loser and a quitter anymore. :)
I can't do everything. But I am going to have to fight the urge to go running tomorrow...

Maybe you should see a doctor to make sure there wasn't a fracture or something. And don't forget to try using an Ace bandage.
